Plan B is an emergency contraceptive than can be taken after unprotected sex or after a chosen form of birth control has failed to prevent unwanted pregnancy, making it a highly desirable birth control method but also a controversial one. We talked a little bit about what Plan B is and why you may consider taking it in another article but for this one, we’re just going to focus on the potential side effects of these pills so you can make an informed decision as to whether or not this is the right option for you.
What Are the Most Common Plan B Side Effects? (Side Effects of The Morning After Pill)
As with any medication, there are Plan B side effects you should be aware of before you consider taking it. Not every woman will experience these side effects but it is still important to know any potential problems you may encounter after you take your pills. Some of the most common Plan B side effects are:
- Headache
- Nausea
- Fatigue
- A change in your menstrual flow (either heavier or lighter)
- Dizziness or lightheadedness
- Tenderness in the breasts
Most of the symptoms women encounter after taking Plan B are mild and don’t require any sort of medical attention. They last a fairly short amount of time during which the woman is able to go about her normal day to day activities. Although most women will still get their period on time, some women will in fact find their period is delayed for a few days. It’s important to keep this in mind as, obviously, a late period is one of the most recognized pregnancy symptoms. Because Plan B is not 100% effective though, it is important to make sure you take a pregnancy test if your period is more than a few days late. You may be pregnant and if you are, you’ll want to find out as soon as possible to weigh your options and take action based on your choice.
What Are Some Less Common Plan B Side Effects?
Having already talked about what Plan B side effects you can expect to experience after taking the pills, it’s important to get into some of the less common, more serious Plan B side effects that have been noted. At this point though, I’d like to remind you that these side effects are uncommon and few women who take the pills will experience them. Some less common Plan B side effects include:
- Diarrhea
- Migraine
- Vomiting
- Late periods
- Allergic reaction
- Severe abdominal pain
- Ectopic pregnancy
Clearly all of these side effects are far more severe than the ones we talked about in the section above and while they are more rare, they are possibilities you need to be prepared for. Of all of them, the ectopic pregnancy is clearly the most worrisome. An ectopic pregnancy takes place when a woman’s egg is fertilized by a man’s sperm but instead of the fertilized egg implanting itself in the uterus, it implants itself in another location. Ectopic pregnancies can be life threatening but there are treatments available for ectopic pregnancies and the success rate for those treatments are as high as 94%.
When Should I See My Doctor About Plan B Side Effects?
In the vast majority of cases, woman who experience side effects after taking Plan B will not need to seek medical attention. As I mentioned a few moments ago, most Plan B side effects are mild and can mostly be ignored. There are times when that isn’t true though. If you experience severe cramping in your stomach or pelvic region, you may have an ectopic pregnancy and you will need to make an appointment with your doctor immediately. While these pregnancies can be treated and the success rate of those treatments is significant, the success rate lowers the longer you wait. Don’t gamble with your health. There could be absolutely nothing wrong but it always better to be safe than sorry.
Beyond abdominal cramps and symptoms of an ectopic pregnancy, you also need to see a doctor if you present with symptoms of an allergic reaction. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include:
- Skin rash
- Itchiness
- Swelling
- Labored breathing or wheezing
- Hives
- Trouble swallowing
Allergic reactions can be severe but like with ectopic pregnancies, they can be treated. If you seek help immediately, the chances of making a full recovery are in your favor. The longer you wait, the more severe the reaction could become, sometimes leaving you with permanent damage or possibly even creating a life threatening condition.
Plan B Side Effects: The Statistics
Most women who take Plan B will experience at least one of the more common Plan B side effects. There are women who will experience none and women who will experience all of them. Making an informed decision means knowing what you could potentially be in for. To make the information a little clearer, I’ve decided to include the statistics for many of the more common and some of the uncommon Plan B side effects.
- 23.1% of women who took Plan B experienced minor nausea.
- 17.6% of women who took Plan B experienced minor abdominal pain.
- 16.9% of women who took Plan B experienced fatigue.
- 16.8% of women who took Plan B experienced minor headaches.
- 13.8% of women who took Plan B experienced a heavier than usual menstrual flow.
- 12.5% of women who took Plan B experienced a lighter than usual menstrual flow.
- 11.2% of women who took Plan B experienced dizziness or lightheadedness.
- 10.7% of women who took Plan B experienced tenderness in their breasts.
- 5.6% of women who took Plan B experienced vomiting.
- 5% of women who took Plan B experienced diarrhea.
As of right now, there are no statistics available on the more serious side effects we spoke of a moment ago, but all of those more serious side effects were observed less frequently than any of the side effects listed above. It is important to mention there is now a single dose Plan B option available on the market that works basically the same way as the traditional two dose version but has different statistics as far as side effects go. The statistics for Plan B side effects associated with the newer, single dose version are as follows:
- 30.9% of women who took single dose Plan B experienced a heavier than usual menstrual flow.
- 13.7% of women who took single dose Plan B experienced minor nausea.
- 13.3% of women who took single dose Plan B experienced abdominal pain.
- 13.3% of women who took single dose Plan B experienced fatigue.
- 10.3% of women who took single dose Plan B experienced minor headaches.
- 9.6% of women who took single dose Plan B experienced dizziness or lightheadedness.
- 8.2% of women who took single dose Plan B experienced tenderness in their breasts.
- 4.6% of women who took single dose Plan B experienced a later than usual menstrual cycle.
If you aren’t sure what side effects you may experience or are concerned about how Plan B will work for you, discuss the option with your doctor. Your doctor will be able to offer you the best possible medical advice and will help you decide whether or not Plan B is the best option for you.
Plan B One-Step is an emergency contraception. This kind of birth control prevents pregnancy after having unprotected sex. It is more commonly known as ‘morning after pill.’ However, you don’t have to wait until the morning after sex for taking it. Studies indicate that Plan B is more effective the sooner you take it after a sexual intercourse. The birth control method is a one-dose regimen. Each pill consists of 1.5 milligrams of levonorgestrel that is frequently used in lower doses in various other birth control pills.
How Effective Is Plan B?
If Plan B is taken within 72 hours after an unprotected sex, it reduces the risk of pregnancy by up to 89%. However, if you take Plan B One-Step within 24 hours, it is shown to product positive results up to 95%. Some incidents also reveal that the use of Plan B may still work successfully on the fifth day (depending on your menstrual cycle).
Women must be aware of the fact that Plan B One-Step should not be considered as a regular contraception method to prevent pregnancies. As the name suggests, it should serve as a backup plan in case you have an unplanned sexual contact. It does not protect against STD’s, therefore, the contraceptive method is not ideal for routine use.
How Does Plan B One-Step Work
Plan B One-Step works in any one of these ways, depending on where you are in your cycle:
- It delays or prevents ovulation
- It interferes with the egg fertilization process
- It is also possible that it prevents the implantation of a fertilized egg in the uterus
It should also be noted that Plan B does not work the same way as RU-486, which is an abortion pill and will not result in an abortion or miscarriage. Simply put, the pill is not capable of stopping the developing of a fetus if the fertilized egg has managed to plant itself in the uterus. This implies that the pill has no effect if you are already pregnant.
How to Take Plan B
All women should use Plan B exactly according to the directions that are listed on its label. If it has been prescribed by a doctor, then follow the recommended dosage and do not over use it. In an ideal situation, it should be taken as soon as possible after an unprotected sexual intercourse to prevent an unwanted pregnancy. It should not be used later than 72 hours. The second dose should be taken 12 hours following the first dose.
Contact your doctor immediately if you throw up within 1 hour of swallowing the pill. It is recommended that no further dosages should be administered without discussing with your doctor. In order to make sure that no harmful effects are caused by the pill and no pregnancy has taken place, you can also get yourself examined after three weeks of using Plan B. Note that if your period is a week late or longer than your usual date, a pregnancy may have occurred. You can take a pregnancy test or contact your doctor to know if you have become pregnant.
Once the fertilized egg is attached to the uterus, Plan B will have no effect on preventing the pregnancy, as it is not an abortion pill. Plan B should be stored at room temperature and kept safe from heat and moisture.
What Happens If You Miss A Dose?
The timing of a dose is important as if you miss a dose, the chances of becoming pregnant increases.
What about an Overdose
Overdose symptoms are characterized by extreme nausea and vomiting. Call your doctor immediately if you think you have over-dosed on Plan B.
Does It Protect From STDs?
Since Plan B has no effects on protecting an individual from acquiring a sexually transmitted disease (including AIDS and HIV), it is not considered better than using a condom. The only way to guard yourself again STD’s is to avoid having unprotected sex or without a condom.
Interaction with Other Drugs
If you are on other drugs, make sure you consult your doctor to know whether you can use Plan B. Some of these drugs include:
- Rifampin
- Amobarbital, Butabarbital, Mephobarbital, Secobarbital, Or Phenobarbital
- Seizure Medicines Such As Phenytoin Or Carbamazepine
This list may extend to some other drugs that can interfere negatively with Plan B. Certain Over the counter medicines, supplements, minerals and herbal products can affect how Plan B works inside your body.
Side-Effects of Plan B
Much has been written and tested on the side effects that accompany with the use of Plan B. Thousands of women have successfully benefited from this emergency contraception method without facing any major complications. However, it is always recommended that you consult your doctor about possible harms that the pill can cause in an individual case.
Even though Plan B One-Step is deemed safe for most women, this article aims to shed light on the side effects that it can have.
Potential side effects:
- Fatigue
- Headache
- Dizziness
- Nausea
- Abdominal Pain
- Breast Tenderness
- Vomiting
- Menstrual Changes
If anyone vomits after two hours of administering the pill, a doctor should find out if the dosage could be repeated again.
Some women may also experience some unexpected bleeding after taking the pill. This should subside by the time your next period is due. There is a possibility that the contraceptive pill can cause your next period to be lighter or heavier than your previous one. Almost one-third of women may observe that their periods are heavier than usual, after taking Plan B. Moreover, around 10 percent of women may experience discomfort from breast tenderness.
Using this pill can also lead to a fluctuation of dates for your next period. In case a woman does not get her period within three weeks of using the pill, a pregnancy test should be taken to know if she has become pregnant or a healthcare practitioner must be contacted.
Weight Factor
Plan B has shown relatively less effective results for women who exceed the 75 kg weight mark. This implies that if a woman weighs more than this limit (165 pounds) then the pill will not as effective as it is for women who weigh less. If your weight is beyond 80 kg, (176 pounds) then contact your doctor for inquiring whether Plan B will be an effective birth control measure to prevent a pregnancy
More Side-Effects
Hormone-Related Side Effects
As Plan B is itself a hormone, it is only natural that a few of its side effects are related to the hormone system or the endocrine. Women who take Plan B are likely to wait for later than their usual date for their next periods to take place.
Digestive Side Effects
One of the most common side effects of Plan B is nausea. Researches reveal that between 14% – 23% of women experience nausea as an annoying side effect of the pill. There may also be considerable abdominal pain or lower abdominal discomfort. Some women also complain of headaches within the initial days of using Plan B. Moreover, fatigue can make the headaches worse. Dizziness may also be another side effect that is also listed on the official website of the product.
Finally, dizziness is another side effect that is listed on the Plan B website. There are around 10% of women who use the morning-after pill that deal with this issue. If you experience any unusual side effects that are not listed, then contact your doctor immediately to check whether you are having symptoms of another serious medical condition, while using this pill.
Diabetes
Even though a few women have experienced loss of blood glucose control while administering progestin-only pills, it is important that women who have diabetes must monitor their blood glucose level closely after using this pill.
Liver Health
It is not yet confirmed whether the birth control method is safe to use if you have a liver disease. Discuss with your doctor whether you should take this pill in case you have experienced any significant liver health concerns for monitoring the effects of this drug.
Migraine
Several women have complained of severe headaches or even migraine after taking a dose of levonorgestrel. This is a common side effect that surfaces after the use of Plan B.
Breast-feeding
Little amounts of progestin are transported into the breast milk of women who take progestin-only pills. However, there are no adverse effects on the quality of milk or infant development that have been verified due to the use of this medication while breast-feeding.
Fertility
According to a publication, Plan B does not interfere with a woman’s capability to conceive and become pregnant in the future. However, they should not b used as a regular method of birth control and condoms or birth control pills should be adopted for long-term use.
Menstrual Changes
It is also observed that some women experience light spotting after using Plan B, which is sometimes mistaken for a menstrual period. However, this spotting takes place soon after taking Plan B and is not a period. A large percentage of women who use Plan B will get their period at the usual date or may be a bit early. Whereas, a small percentage can have their periods delayed.
Always remember that Plan B is not ideal for regular use and is not a substitute for regular birth control pills. If somebody feels that there is a need for a more frequent use, then a more reliable contraception method should be used.
Pregnancy-like Symptoms
A surprising fact about Plan B is that some of its side effects may actually mimic several pregnancy symptoms. Vomiting, nausea, cramps, sore breasts, abdominal discomfort and headaches are all symptoms that are experienced when women conceive. Since the pill can also cause the next menstruation cycle to occur later than usual, some women eventually feel that they have become pregnant and the pill hasn’t worked.
However, this is not the case. Even though, these side effects lead women to believe that Plan B did not work for them, it usually results in preventing an unwanted pregnancy.
What If You Get Pregnant Despite Taking Plan B
Studies reveal that that there are no pregnancy complications or an increase in birth defects even after you get pregnant after using Plan B.
Warnings and Precautions of Using Plan B
Some more signs can indicate whether Plan has not worked to its fullest. A light period, which is a week or more late, can signal that a pregnancy has taken place. A small percentage of women experience other signs that may be pointing out to a pregnancy. Sore or enlarged breasts, fatigue, nausea, headaches and frequent urination can also indicate a pregnancy.
Like any other birth control method, it is important that you should inform your doctor before using Plan B. This is crucial as you can reduce the risks of an allergic reaction to the pill. Other factors that must be taken into consideration before using it include breast-feeding, the use of other medications and being already pregnant.
This medication should not be given to anyone who is younger than 17 years old. Plan B can be used to prevent a pregnancy if a woman feels there are other issues such as a condom breakage or missing doses of birth control pills.
Effects on Existing Pregnancy
The pill is not designed to terminate a pregnancy that has already been in progress. Therefore, it should not be used in an attempt to cause an abortion or miscarriage. As the hormones in Plan B influence ovulation, the uterine lining and the cervical mucus, it is incapable of causing an abortion.
Other Considerations
A few factors that increase the likelihood of becoming pregnant even after taking the contraceptive pill, is the time a woman takes to use Plan B after an unprotected sexual intercourse. It is also noted that if a woman vomits after taking the pill, she is more likely to become pregnant as the body fails to absorb the medication completely.
I had intercourse with a condom. We didn’t realize it broke until 5 mins into it. So the next day I got the plan b pull and took it at 4:20 pm. I have no had any side effects since then and I only have had bad vaginal Oder and thick discharge. Please help. Im Confused
Taylor, it may just be a yeast infection. Any pill that messes with your hormones can also throw your PH out of balance in turn causing a yeast infection. If you try to remedy it and it does not go away see your GYN for testing of STI.
The bad odor and discharge was probably because your “man” was a dirty dog — real talk. When men sleep around with different women, they carry different little organism and bacteria that thrive in a woman’s vagina… much like the petri dish in science lab. Now don’t even THINK about the STD’s they safely carry and can pass along to the vagina’s “petri dish”! Just be thankful you made it out alive…if you did?
this may mean that you have some other type of infection of STD even, but always ask your doctor to be sure.
Is it normal having some bleeding after taking the plan B pill?
My boyfriend and I had sex a month ago. We were both under the influence and I can’t remember if we used a condom. But just to be safe I went and got the plan b pill and took it within 13 hours of the incident. I experienced a super light period, cramping, fatigue, and breast tenderness. However my period for this month has yet to show itself. I’m a few days late now. I’ve taken 2 pregnancy tests and both are negative. Could I be pregnant? Should I take another test this weekend if my period doesn’t show up?
hey dora my girl had the same problem but that was back in the month of May and she didnt have her period until july but now is having her period on the regular. i bought this pill in the past for many women…and i can say this everyone is different. some have their period early, some heavy some light but the effects go away after a week.
I have been experiencing some side effects from taking plan b but I am worrie that they are pregnancy symptoms. I bled about three days after taking the plan b pill so I figured that it worked however now (about two weeks after) I am experiencing swollen and tender breasts and am also very moody. I’m extremely worried that I may be pregnant. I took two pregnancy tests but both came back negative I’m worried and confused
In regard to Mung O’Serin comment how can you fix this probelm? Is their a solution?
ok i had protected sex with my boyfriend and we noticed when we finished the condom poped. Well i asked my neighbor to get me the pill and it took her about 3 days to get it. Is it to late to work? and i have had some side effects such as headaches so far. I’ve also noticed some bloating. Please someone help im 16 and already have a kid i dont need another 1
You can take it up to 5 days and they may give you two pills to “double down” ( basically take one today and then tomorrow). But know that in the event that this does happen again you can go to Planned parenthood yourself and get the pill. It is free and confidential even though you are only 16. But the sooner you take the pill the more effective it is going to be.
it’s 72 hours. And the percentage of it working decreases the longer you wait. 5 days is way to long! Read the package. That’s why instructions are there for.
I know you are only 16 but are you for real? If you already have a child and don’t want anymore why don’t you open your mouth the way your open your legs and take a pill every morning! I can’t believe how ignorant some people can be!
Are you serious! She is a young women who is asking a question. There is no need to shame her!
Also not everyone reacts well to the pill.
Wow you are 16? You already have one child and you are working on another? sounds like you have great parents if you are that easy. Remember boys will always go after girls that have kids because they are easy. you just provide that point.
So i took the pill the next day after having sex and maybe a week later i got my period but it lasted for a day and a half should i be wirried about being pregnant?
Hey. So my boyfriends and I had sex the day after my last period. W didn’t notice that the condom broke. We went and got the pill right when we found out and I’m having some of the side effects. I’m not taking birth control but I will like to have some reassurance.
It is very unlikely that you can become pregnant the “day” after your period or even for a couple days after your period or for that matter a few days before your period.
But you should keep the timing of sex to yourself, otherwise your dog of a boyfriend will be all over you on those days pressuring you for more and more. And since you have to keep good track of your cycle and know a lot more about it, you should NOT attempt to time sex in your cycle or you will wind up pregnant. Why take the chance. You are trying to outsmart nature and Nature has been doing this for billions years while you just got started playing a game and you are just starting to learn the rules.
Nature has designed a system to get you pregnant. That is the purpose of sex – to make babies. The pleasure in sex is nature’s way of making you both think having sex was a good idea – even when it was not. A woman’s desire to have sex increases as she ovulates. Nature makes her get careless. She believes a guy “love’s her” and will be there for her to care for her and the baby, and even when he has no intention to or really just is not ready for that kind of responsibility or commitment.
I would suggest in the future NOT being alone with your current or any boy pressuring you into sex. Go out together with other friends or with a parent.
There is a great song by the rock group Meatloaf called “Paradise by the dashboard light” that sums up well the boy vs girl pre-sex dialogue and its likely consequences for the unready and uncommitted.
True love is about the sacrifices a man will make to be faithful to HIS WIFE. And it should involve a minimum $30,000 a year job, a place to live for the both of you and your children, a nice ring, and a life-long devotion to you. The sacrifice is two-way. You owe your lifelong devotion to him too and to be a good mom to his children.
Now, if your current boyfriend doesn’t last, no great loss, you have saved yourself the total embarrassment of attending a class reunion twenty years from now, accidentally bumping into, and being forced by circumstance to awkwardly introduce an old sex partner to husband. Believe me, your future husband wants to be your only one and does not want you to have been someone else’s teenage dream.
I wish my dad would’ve talked to me this way! I probably would have done a lot less stupid stuff, instead of having to learn everything the hard way. What a good dad:)
I agree for me, not you. 🙂
I took the pill and my period came on about 4 days later.
Hi, I had sex with my boyfriend and the method we normally use is a condom. At this time we had unprotected sex and we used the pull out method. While he say that he didn’t cum in me, just to be sure I had taken plan b (this being a week ago.) Yesterday,I noticed very little blood (literally it was practically nothing) just for the day. Today I have a little bit of a stomach ache and I feel a bit of nausea. I am one who rarely ever gets my period but the day before we had sex, I had just finished my period cycle (1st time in about 4 months). I know this is a pretty unique situation, but any insight will help. Thank you.
Was it worth it?
i had sex with my boyfriend a day after my period when up and i took the pill right after we had sex but now a week later im bleeding like if i was on my period its this a bad thing im really worried :/
My boyfriend and I had sex with a condom, but when he pulled out to cum the condom was still inside me and he cummed a little bit above my vagina and I took the pill 15 hours later. But I think I may be ovulating. Do you think I have a chance of being pregnant ? If so how great of a chance ?? /:
Hey guys, me and my boyfriend had sex today, and he felt the condom break and pulled out right away. A few seconds later he came. The condom broke on the side kinda towards the top. I was thinking about getting Plane B tomorrow. Anyone have any insight on the situation? Please comment. I really need to hear someone’s opinion. Thanks.
I had sex with my boyfriend on the 27 witch I was Ovulating , he bought me the pill the next day and gave it to me at night .. The next day during the afternoon I went to the bathroom and I got a huge brown stain in my panties and it does not smell or look like my period. Ever since .. I had it and really strong… This is the second time I drink this pill and the first time everything was normal and this time it’s obviously worring me. Also my Brest hurt when I touch them. Can anybody help me figure out what can be happening please?
I had unprotected intercourse (unexpected temptation) with my bf 3 wks and 2 days ago within 23hrs I took plan B. He told me and I even saw it that he did not try to let his precum…. inside me. He also did not cum however it is still unprotected sex and he tried to put it in after he pre-ejaculated his precum then… after a week I have my heavy flow period that started from spotting—spotting—light–heavy—light—heavy—spotting—done.
On my second week I felt dizziness, light headache, tiredness, and not likely to eat coz I felt that theres something odd after I ate food.
On my third week I feel very weak, dry throat, nausea, dizziness (feels like am gonna pass out “BUT NOT”), lower abdominal pain, and very light headaches.
=I do not know if this symptoms are normal and because of the pill NOT because am preggy (I also tried preg test from walmrt it is negative after 1 week and some few days ago after period)=
I took the pill also & about a week later im what it seems to be on a light period that looks brown.
I had sex with my girl friend and the condom broke she was on the last day of her period and she put her ring in a hour before we had sex. I had her go take plan b the next day and a week later she woke up with very bad stomach pain and it lasted all day. She started spotting a little and the stomach pain came back again but didn’t last as long. I don’t know what to do or what is wrong
I u to have a three day period now it won’t stop

I had my period like two weeks ago and I took the pill a month before that and I just recently took the pill again in the past week and now I have started another period. A super heavy one and I am wondering if I miscarried. Anyone know?
This is the same thing I’m going through. I mentioned it to my friend and she said that it was probably an egg that was gonna b a baby but didn’t make it…i said it’s probably the plan b bc I recently took another one last week but idk. I’m confused. I’m just gonna see how long this cycle lasts and if it’s more than a week, I’m going to the doctor.
Plan B is not to be used like birth control. It is an emergency situation solution. why don’t you just get on the bc pill or take the shot or get the implant there are all different forms. Plan B can be dangerous if used on a regualar bases. Read the BOX ladies!
So i went to a house party got a bit too drunk met a cute guy and well got caught in the heat if the moment, he didnt pull out..i know stupid me! I had unprotected sex around the time of ovulation which was the 2nd and took plan b maybe a hour later I got what I thought was my period on the 9th but i wasnt due for my period until the 18th. I had a couple more accidents the 16th-19th and 22nd-23rd then my period ended up coming the 24th what’s going on?!
My sense of smell has been hightened. I only had sex three days ago. Is this normal and due to high progesterone levels in plan b?
Okay, so I took plan B, 2 days before new years.
After that I got a weird smell and discharge 2 days after new years. LIke it’s chunky and the smells just gross.I’ve been dating the same guy for 2 years so it’s no an std. So when I didn’t think anything can get worse, today I started getting really weird pains in my stomach. Now I’m having heavy bleeding and it’s blood clotty. I took plan b multiple times and I’ve never had anything like this. My period doesn’t come till the 17th of this month so Iunno what to do. I’m a bit worried. Any ideas, or advice? Should I go to the doctors for this?!
I had just had my period on christmas eve, and I had sex on the 29th of december, we used a condom but when I got off the condom came with me, there was stuff all over me. We weren’t sure if it was his or mine so he got me the plan b the next day. Yesterday I started spoting, and today its a little more than spoting but not like a period. But what worries me is I just had my period about 2 weeks ago. Should I be worried? Does anyone know what’s going on?
I’m having the same situation so has it gotten any better?
Sprinks I’m going through the same. Plus loss of apitite, fetige, light headedness, and I’m super emotional. Idk wtf is going on!
This plan b has got my body all f**ed up & confused. My b**bs are so fu**ng sore & I’ve been spotting for like two weeks. I took the plan b pill a month ago & my stomach is all freaked out too. Idk what to think at this point.
I am having the exact same problems! Did you got to the doctor?
I’m never taking plan b again. Ever.
Worst experience ever, I’m still gushing blood.
The pain in my stomach comes and goes, and I’m really moody now. And always tired. Is it possible to be loosing to much blood? Seeing as I’m anemic too.
Im so sick of this pill, i’ve never wanted my period to start as much as i want it now, its been 2 month. And my eye has been red every since i took the pill, i want this over. Has anyone had a red eye from taking the pill?
I was suppose to get my period about twoor three days ago. But I had unprotected sex about 5 days ago. I went and took plan b the next day after I had unprotected sex. My period is now late and I have no regular symptoms of my period (tender breasts, cramps) advice please! Is this normal? Should i be worried?
So , I went to a party (on friday) got a bit to drunk but my friends who were less drunk then me & one of them was sobber watched me the whole time so the next day I woke up they said I got it in with this one guy (I’m still a virgin) so I got super scared so my friend gave me the plan B pill but later after I took it they said they were playing & I even asked him if we did he said no I dont fuck while I’m drunk, but now it’s Monday & I’m feeling gassy and I feel kinda burning down there with a slight pain & in my lower tummy mind you know I just go off my period but when I was on it I felt the same burning . I’m just really worried & don’t know what to say or do can I please get help!.
get new friends. pregnant or not. burning or not. get new friends.
Me and my love had sex for about the 6th time since we both lost our V card. We tried a new condom (Trojan) it was good at first the we tried a new position ( I was starting to get a little dry ) so the condom started to create friction. Then we heard a pop & we knew what it was right away so he pulled out VERY QUICKLY. The next day I took the pill and i started feeling the bad stomach pains, dizziness, nausea, & my nipples are always hard now….oh and i feel like i have a knot in my tummy. My period it suppose to start on the 17th. But I’m just happy to hear people are having the same symptoms as me. I feel a little relieved.
make it your #1 priority to get new friends
sorry wrong post
my boyfriend and i had sex on Friday (jan 18) and we used a condom. it didn’t pop or rip or anything to our knowledge; everything looked in its rightful place i guess you could say. Still being worried i took the plan b pill within the 72 hour frame and i’ve started to get slight cramping and nausea. If one were to go by the 28 day cycle i would have gotten my period on January 16th but i never did and this isnt unusual for me because my periods are never regular. but i am a still bit worried. does anyone believe there could be a possibility i am pregnant or am i just being over paranoid especially after using a condom and taking a plan b pill.
I took plan b two months in a row. The first time I took it I got my period a few days early thn 3 weeks later as usual… The next month I took it again and thn didn’t have my period for 4 weeks and 4 days. Recently I took a pregnancy test cuz I was supposed to get my period on the 20th or a bit later AND it said negative. My breasts are a little tender off and on… Is that a good sign? And since then we’ve had protected sex and the pull out method once about 2 weeks ago, but still… Nothing. Ps lately I have been extremely stressed with school and work and I have had a fever twice within the last month. Opinions?
And after I took it the second time I got it early and then after the 4 etc weeks
I made loved to my bf on the 17 &* took the plan b the next morningin school but I haven’t had my period but I haven’t had my period last month either I took a test last month but it turn out I wasn’t pregnant but I since I took the pill I’ve been tired feelin nausea 🙁 could I be pregnant?
I had unprotected sex w/ my boyfriend recently. I am on birth control but wasn’t using it very appropriately, so i got plan B just in case. I took i on the 3rd day (w/in 72hrs w/ about 10hrs to spare). I am worried I was supposed to continue taking my pills but since I took the plan B i just stopped (and wasn’t taking it normally anyway). Usually when I stop it before the placebos come my period comes soon after. Its been a week and still no period. My period would normally come tomorrow though. Should I be worried??
I took the plan B pill within 24hrs and I still ended up pregnant.
Men are just greedy pigs . Full of lust and semen. Nobody wants commitment.
Don’t sleep with your bfs then you wont need a plan b.
My menstrual cycle has always been stable around 30-32 days each cycle. I’ve taken Plan B before in the past and had various reactions towards it, sometimes no reactions at all. This time, I took Plan B few hours after sex on 31st December. My ovulation date would be on 3rd January. Nothing happen after taking Plan B and my next period came as predicted on 17th January. It was normal (heavy to light flow) and lasted about 5 days.
After my period had finish for 2 days, I was scheduled to have my wisdom teeth surgery and was put on general anaesthesia. Few hours after that, I begin to had some light bleeding here and there. Sometimes it would be quite heavy and sometimes only a little bit for the whole day. There has been no clots, but bright red watery blood. Have been bleeding like that for over 10 days already, not including the 5 days from my last period. There is no pain, no cramps and I feel normal, no symptoms of anemia.
I’m not exactly worried about pregnancy, I’m more worried when will my cycle go back to its usual stable cycle or is there something else behind this irregular bleeding. Also, should I see my doctor? What can the doctor do if it’s due to Plan B?
hey all, my partner and I had sex with a condom around 4am on Valentine’s day. We then had sex around 8am the same day with a condom but this time the condom slipped off at some point during but we aren’t sure when. He definitely ejaculated and some did get inside. I took the plan b one step on Friday 7:30pm. It’s only been a five days but I am very bloated and I am having cramps with a clear/whitish discharge. I also have back pain. I read that the cramps and bloating are normal and should stop soon. But I also read that if you take plan b near ovulation it looses some effectiveness. Since this happened midway through my cycle I’m just wondering if the plan b has failed anyone? I saw that it didn’t work for shae above. Anyone else take the pill near ovulating? I know that no one can be sure when they ovulate but I know it was near the window.
Same happened with us…can you please share your result here…my gf was also in the middle of her cycle…the condom broke…but there was no e#eculation at that time..we stopped there but we had plan B just 3 hour before…
Hey guys, so i took the plan b pill about in december two days after i had unprotected sex ( was pressured in to it) and i got my period like usual . It is now Febuary and I am experencing symptoms like swelling to my breasts and cramps. I took many pregnancy tests but all ended up negative as well as got back on the birth control pill last week . Could it be because of my pills or could I be pregnant?
Becoming depressed, moody, irritable, and overall a hot mess is also a side effect. Warn your boyfriend that he may feel alienated. And don’t dump him or say anything you’ll regret under the influence. Avoid any stress at all costs. Plan B did a number on my emotional health for a good week. Also, it messed with my period. Not fun. I hope to never again need to resort to this.
I took the plan b pill on sunday and today we had another mishap during sex the condom fell off inside me it has only been three days sense i took plan b is it safe to take it again or could it mess me up now or in the future?
I had unprotected sex with my husband a week after the first day of my period. (I’ve been waiting to get an IUD and have been off my birth control pills). I was worried so I took the Plan B pill about 36hrs later. The next day I had the worst stomache ache and that night I became extremely moody. I was feeling so anxious and upset that I didn’t even sleep that night. I know I’m very sensitive to hormonal changes, but this was rediculous. Then yesterday, four days after taking the pill, I started to bleed a little bit. I woke up this morning and had soaked through a super absorbancy tampon and now the bleeding is like having a normal period for me (which is very heavy). I’m pretty bummed out about these side effects. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, did you get your period again at the expected time?
I took the pill Plan B around March 2012 a year ago and now around this month 2013 I been having pain on my lower stomach and pain Breast / nipple I havent gotten my period but also me and my boyfriend have had protected and unprotected sex. Help
Everyone is talking about bleeding after taking the pill, which I am doing now. And everyone is also talking about not starting your period for a while. But did y’all eventually start your period and did everything get back to normal?
